Owens first day at School

Today was Owens first day at school. He is in the Buttercup Nursery class. He has a uniform which he does not mind wearing but has let me know on previous occassions that he does not like the shorts. I tend to agree with him (but never verbally let him know) that they are not what I would personally pick out for him to wear.

Our week leading up to today was filled with introducing what will be taking place at school etc. First we drew up a calendar and Owen crossed off the days until we got to the smiley "school" day. Next we had the snack out of the "incy wincy spider" snack pack at 10am to let him know that is what we eat first and at lunch time the dinosaur lunch bag held his lunch time meal. All seemed to work fine at home.

The weekend before was spent trying to convince Owen that his black school shoes were cool to wear. He needed a bit of convincing but didnt hesitate to put them on once he saw that his socks were his favourite colour green! Bonus.

The night before everything was laid out and ready for the next days action. I battled to sleep but Owen didnt have a problem! Owen was so excited in the morning he even managed to put most of his uniform on himself. Brendon came with us to mark this historic event. When we arrived Owen shot into the class and settled himself down in front of the car garage and was very happy to say goodbye. I on the other hand was a bit teary and when Erin and I got home I decided the girls needed chocolate so I split a box of Owens mini-smarties box with Erin at 8.00am.

I am hoping the days and months to come will be just as happy and as exciting as it was today for my little boy.
